Jaakko Aukusti returns with a new single, ‘Himalaya’, available now via
Following the success of his previous single ‘Shadow Boxer’ and debut EP ‘Volcano’, multi-instrumentalist Jaakko Aukusti releases his new single, ‘Himalaya’, today on March 4th through VILD Recordings.
Jaakko Aukusti’s new single, Himalaya, is a song balancing in between different contrasts. Silence and noise. Ethereal walls of echoes and reverb and a rave in a distant forest. There’s light shining through the branches – the playful instrumentation of the earlier songs shakes hands with a hollowing, eerie soundscape. Himalaya is the first glimpse from his debut album.
The track was premiered by The Line Of Best Fit, who thought that Jaakko’s angelic falsetto and the barrage of drums, guitar solos and bright synths could be compared to Mew after they locked themselves into a studio with a bag of Ecstacy. The music video for Himalaya is premiered today in the UK via Clash Magazine and in Finland via Soundi.
Hailing from Turku, Finland, Jaakko Aukusti is a musician/multi-instrumentalist who makes sort-of-pop-ish music coloured with playful arrangements and unconventional song structures. His debut EP Volcano was released through VILD Recordings in early 2015. The single Shadow Boxer claimed loads of radio attention and stirred music enthusiasts also outside of Finland in publications like IndieShuffle. Currently Jaakko Aukusti is recording his debut album which is set to be released in 2016. The album is produced by the art pop wizard Artturi Taira, who’s best known as the frontman of Rubik – the indie rock pioneer in Finland.
