“a song that’s almost cinematic in scale with its swooping live instrumentation and ethereal backing vocals” – James Keith / Complex UK

Following the successful release of his latest single Treat,  New Comer of the Year (annual award by Finnish music magazine Soundi) Jesse Markin returns with his new single Jericho, out on VILD Recordings 25th of January. Where Treatleaned strongly on danceable club rhythms and catchy vocal hooks, with JerichoMarkin showcases a more sensitive and pictorial side of his repertoire.

To reach our goals we have to break down the walls holding us back. Jericho is a song about letting go and trough that, finding peace. The name of the song came from the Old Testament, where the Israelites had to start from the walls of Jericho to get to their promised land. These walls can be found everywhere and that was the idea that led to a song.”, Markin explains.

Along the new single release Markin makes his live debut as a three-piece band at G Livelab Helsinki on Thursday 31.1.

Liberian-born, but based in Finland, Jesse Markin’s ability to truly nail a subject lends his music a certain intensity, and this rushes through his new single. – Robin Murray / Clash Magazine

When Finland gets it right, it Gets It Right. The bass on this RnB gets the heart kicking, and the vocal is slick as hell.  – alftitude.com
