Following the release of his debut single Blood, Jesse Markin returns with his new single Treat, out on VILD Recordings 12th of October. Whereas Blood leaned strongly towards indie-pop, we now see the emerging Liberian-born, Finnish artist broadening his style towards club-oriented rhythms balanced with harder beats and basslines on production.
Originally making his name as rapper for the group The Megaphone State – producing three critically-acclaimed hip-hop albums – his new solo project moves him forward both musically and thematically, broadening his style from rapping to singing for the first time.
Speaking on the track, Markin states: “Treat is a song about dedication. Acknowledging your own mistakes and growth. Production-wise, incorporating different rhythms and executing them came very naturally for this song. I wanted a track that is easy to approach, but at the same time a track that has a deeper and meaningful layer to it through lyrics. So with every listen you are able to find something new”.
